Only A Little Longer Ch1

Everything was quiet. So quiet, you could hear a pin drop. The brunette took a step backwards, away from the raven standing in front of him. His eyebrows were furrowed, lips just barely parted. Tears filled his toxic green eyes.

"Wh-What?" he finally squeaked out

Barely ten minutes ago the raven, Kevin Ethan Levin had pulled up at the Mr. Smoothie upon seeing his boyfriend, Benjamin Kirby Tennyson, sitting outside of the establishment. The raven had parked his car and approached the brunette. However, after the brunette's cheerful greeting, he stated

"I'm breaking up with you"

It was blunt, and to the point, and Kevin hated himself for it. He could see the raw pain in Ben's eyes, and it stabbed at his heart. He wished it didn't have to be this way. He really did.

And so he stared down at the bewildered, hurt, and confused teenager, face completely expressionless.

"I'm breaking up with you" he repeated, Ben flinching back quite visibly

A shaky laugh tried to escape the brunette, sounding like more of a sob.

"Y-You're kidding right? This is a joke?"

"It's not a joke, Ben" he stated, onyx gaze flicking away from the widening toxic green ones

Ben slammed his eyes shut, clenching his teeth as the tears streamed down his cheeks. He inhaled roughly, a soft sob escaping him when he exhaled.

"You're serious. Okay..."

Without another word the brunette turned the dial on the Omnitrix, transformed into Jetray, and flew away.

Kevin watched the younger leave in silence. Once the teen was a safe distance away Kevin returned to his car, allowing his own tears to slip down his cheeks.

Ben flew straight to Gwen's house, not even bothering to knock on the door. He rushed in the house, ignoring the curious shouts from his aunt and uncle as he rushed straight up the stairs. Gwen was already pulling her door open, having heard the shouts, when Ben ran towards her.

Her eyes widened and she opened her arms, bracing herself as her cousin crashed into her. A weak sob escaped the brunette as he clutched her close.

"I d-don't understand" he sobbed

Gwen lifted them on a mana platform and floated them inside her room, closing the bedroom door behind them. One of her hands gently ran through his hair, while the other rubbed gently up and down his back.

"Ben, what happened?" she asked after a few minutes

"K-Kevin left me" he wailed into her shirt

Her eyes widened in shock, then set into a glare. She pulled her cousin closer, leaning down and pressing a gentle kiss to the top of his head. His grip on her tightened, his face hidden in her orange hair.

"Ben" she said softly "Ben-"

"He doesn't love me anymore" his voice was a broken attempt at a whisper before another sob escaped his trembling lips

"Yes he does Ben!" she assured him "Ben, something is wrong with him"

He pulled back, staring curiously into her determined emerald eyes. He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion as she gently wiped his tears away.

"I don't understand"

"Grandpa Max called and told me" she sighed "I'm not supposed to tell you, so I won't. All I'm saying is you have to go over to Kevin's and-"

"What's wrong with him" he interrupted

She flinched back slightly at the intensity of his toxic green stare. She bit down on her lower lip for a moment, tugging it between her teeth before releasing it with a sigh.

"Ben" she grabebd his hands "Kevin is very... Very sick... He's..." she trailed off

"What? He's what?" he pressed frantically

"Dying..." she finally rasped out

His eyes widened, hands falling from her grasp. At first his eyes were nothing but orbs of confusion, slowly moving on to terror, pain, and grief. Without another word to his cousin he leapt to his feet and rushed out the door and down the stairs, once again ignoring the yells from Gwen's parents.

"Gwen what is up with Ben?" her mother called

Gwen sighed, tears streaming down her cheeks as she worriedly tugged a hand through her orange hair. Her green eyes flicked to meet her mother's gaze, then her fathers briefly before flicking back to her mothers.

"He's going to fight for what he loves for, mom" she finally replied "Before he looses him forever"

Without another word she turned and returned to her bedroom, sitting in silence on her bed while she waited for her cousin to contact her.

Ben skidded to a stop at the end of Gwen's driveway. He fiddled with the dials on the Omnitrix, selected Big Chill, and took off. He flew straight to Kevin's apartment, where he saw a familiar green car in the garage.

He landed at the foot of the driveway and silently stalked up, where he could see Kevin's leg's sticking out from under the vehicle. He willed his tears to stay back but a few escaped, slipping down his cheeks.

He reached down and grabbed Kevin's ankle, angrily yanking him from beneath the vehicle. Kevin stopped his angry yell when he spotted the brunette towering over him. His eyes widened in shock.

"B-Ben? What are you doing here?"

Ben's resolve weakened and he dropped to his knees in front of Kevin, hiding his face in his hands. The brute sat up, raising a curious eyebrow as he reached towards him. Ben's hand shot out and grabbed Kevin's hand, holding it securely in his grasp as a weak sob escaped his lips.

He raised his head to meet Kevin's onyx orbs with his own watery toxic green eyes. He swallowed heavily, biting his lips. He lurched forward rather suddenly and threw his arms around Kevin, hiding his face in the ruffian's chest.

Another sob escaped Ben and his hands fisted into the black shirt Kevin was wearing.

"I hate you" Ben whispered into Kevin's chest "I hate you" Before Kevin could say a thing Ben began beating his chest weakly "Why didn't you tell me!?" he all but yelled. His beating stopped soon and he collapsed back onto Kevin's chest "Don't leave me"

"Ben-"

"I love you" the brunette whispered "Please don't leave me"

"Ben it's for the best-"

"No" he interrupted "Anything without you isn't for the best. Kevin please" he raised his tear filled gaze to meet the ruffians "Don't leave me. Don't make me leave you. Don't... don't make me let you go through this alone"

Kevin looked away

"Ben-"

"Please" he sobbed "I can't loose you" he clutched him closer "I just can't"

"Ben just think of how much harder it will be for you if we're together when I-" a hand clamped over his mouth

"D-Don't say it. If you say it... That makes this all real" he clutched the ruffian closer "Kevin it'll be harder if we aren't together. All I'll have is what if's"

"You still will-"

"But not as bad! Kevin I need you! And I know you need me! Stop fighting me on this!"

"I just don't want you hurt, Benji"

"I'm already hurting! No matter what happens now, I'm hurt! Let me hurt with you! I love you"

Without another word Kevin wrapped his arms around Ben and pulled him closer, tears streamed down his cheeks as the two laid on the floor of the garage in each others arms, sobbing together in what was to be one of their last moments together.
